Men's Lacrosse Announces 2017 Schedule

Dec. 20, 2016

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team released its 2017 schedule, as announced by Head Coach Kevin Warne on Tuesday. The Hoyas host a slate that features seven home games at Cooper Field and seven contests against teams that made the 2016 NCAA Championships.

A season-opening road trip to High Point kicks off the 2017 campaign on February 14. The game against the Panthers will be the first meeting between the two schools in program history.

Georgetown then travels for a showdown against Notre Dame on February 18. The game against the Fighting Irish will be played in Dallas, Texas, and is the third-straight year the Hoyas and UND have faced off against each other. Notre Dame is the first of seven NCAA Tournament teams the Hoyas will face in the 2017 regular season.

Following the trip to the Lone Star State, the Blue & Gray return to the Hilltop for a three-game homestand. The Hoyas host Towson, another 2016 NCAA participant, on February 25, before welcoming Hofstra and Robert Morris to the friendly confines of Cooper Field on March 4 and March 7, respectively.

Following GU's initial home series, the Hoyas battle five-consecutive opponents that made the 2016 NCAA postseason. Alternating home and away matches for the next three weeks, Georgetown travels to face Hobart on March 11, hosts Duke on March 18, takes a brief road trek up to Baltimore to play Loyola (Md.) on March 22, welcomes defending BIG EAST Champion Marquette to the Nation's Capital on March 25, and flies out to Denver for an April 1 showdown against the Pioneers.

The Hoyas close out the back end of their schedule with three of the last four games in BIG EAST action. A road trip to Providence on April 8 kicks things off, followed by a home game against Villanova on April 15, a mid-week non-conference tilt at Mount St. Mary's on April 18 and the regular season finale at home against St. John's on April 29.

Georgetown looks to return to the BIG EAST Championships after a one-year hiatus. The four-team draw takes place from May 4-6 in Providence, R.I., with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
