BETHESDA, Md. - Despite outhitting Princeton University, the Georgetown University baseball team dropped its third-straight game to the Tigers, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at Shirley Povich Field. GU fell to 10-10 on the season, while Princeton improved to 5-7.
Kevin Superko (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley/Phillips Andover) started on the mound for the Hoyas and went six innings, giving up four runs on five hits while striking out four. Nick Leonard (Washington, D.C./Maret), making his season debut, pitched three shutout innings in relief with two strikeouts.
Austin Shirley (Strafford, Pa./Conestoga) and Chase Bushor (San Diego, Calif./Santa Fe Christian) paced the GU offense with two hits apiece. GU outhit Princeton, 7-5, but hit into four double plays.
The Tigers scored two runs in the top of the second inning, on a single and two-run home run, and two in the fourth on a two-out, two-run single.
Georgetown will head out on the road for nine-straight games, beginning with a matchup against D.C.-rival George Washington University on Tuesday. First pitch at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Virginia is scheduled for 3 p.m.
