Wofford opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, hitting back-to-back home runs with two outs and scoring four runs overall to take a 4-0 lead.
The Hoyas got two of those runs back in the top of the fourth as Kuzbel broke out of an 0-for-9 slump with a two-run home run to dead center, scoring Racusin, who had led off the inning with a single.
The Terriers extended their lead back to four, 6-2, in the bottom half of the inning with two more two-out runs, one of which was earned.
Consecutive doubles by Racusin and Kuzbel in the top of the fifth got a run back for the Hoyas, but Wofford answered with six more two-out runs in the bottom of the fifth, including two, two-run home runs, to put GU in a 12-3 hole.
DeRenzi got four runs right back with one swing of the bat in the top of the sixth, launching a grand slam to left-centerfield. John Simourian (Andover, Mass./Phillips), Richie O'Reilly (Hermosa Beach, Calif./Loyola HS) and Bernstein all came around to score to cut the deficit to 12-7.
Wofford scored five runs off of Nick Morreale (Lake Elmo, Minn./St. Thomas Academy/IMG Academy) in the bottom of the seventh. The Terriers added another run in the eighth off of Nick Leonard (Washington, D.C./Maret).
The Hoyas scored twice in the eighth and twice in the ninth to provide the final scoring. Hall led off the top of the eighth with a double and, one out later, scored on a single by DeRenzi. Racusin followed with a single to send DeRenzi to third before Kuzbel lofted a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing DeRenzi to cross the plate.
In the top of the ninth, Hall hit a solo home run to deep left field. Eric Garza (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan/TCU/San Jacinto) drew a pinch-hit walk and took second on defensive indifference. DeRenzi followed with an infield single that the shortstop misplayed for an error, allowing Garza to score.
Georgetown will conclude its weekend on Sunday when it plays Dayton in a neutral-site game at Wofford College. Kevin Superko (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley/Phillips Andover) will get the start for the Hoyas. First pitch is scheduled for noon and live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
