Jacob Grzebinski (Bellaire, Texas/Emery Weiner) made a controlled start on the mound, going 2.1 innings, allowing four runs while striking out three. Beau Dana (Marblehead, Mass./Deerfield Academy) picked up the win in relief, throwing 3.2 scoreless innings with a career-high five strikeouts. Matt Randolph (Concord, N.C./Cannon School/Emory) also fired a scoreless inning, while Jack Cushing (Flower Mound, Texas/Marcus) did not allow an earned run while striking out one in an inning of work.

The Hoyas jumped on the board in the first inning. After Shirley and Bernstein led off with a single and a walk and moved up on a double steal, Stevens lined a one-out double into left field to score both runners. One out later, with runners on the corners, another double steal allowed Stevens to score and give GU a 3-0 lead.
Georgetown batted around in the second inning, scoring four more times to expand the lead to 7-0. Another single and a walk put two runners on before Shirley laid down a perfect bunt single. The pitcher's throw was wild to first, allowing Weisenberg to score. After a walk to Bernstein loaded the bases, Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) came home on a fielder's choice by McCabe. An RBI single by Stevens scored Shirley and sent McCabe to third before a sacrifice fly by Ryan P. Davis (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) capped the scoring.
Coppin State cut into the lead with four runs in the top of the third, making it 7-4.
A two-out, two-run double by McCabe in the bottom half of the third brought the lead back up to five, 9-4. Back-to-back doubles by Bernstein and McCabe in the fifth inning plated three more runs to put the Hoyas in front, 12-4.
McCabe lined his third double of the day down the left field line in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Weisenberg and DeRenzi to give GU a double-digit lead, 14-4.
In the bottom of the eighth, James Gabor (Wyndmoor, Pa./William Penn Charter School) scored on a wild pitch and McCabe scored on a sacrifice fly by Kai Nelson (New York, N.Y./Fieldston).
