WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's women's rowing team put together another strong showing at the GW Invite over the weekend on the Potomac River. The Hoyas won five races over the two-day event, including a Sunday sweep by the lightweight squad.

Lightweight
Georgetown finished first in four of its six races, highlighted by a dominating weekend by the varsity 8+ boat. Friday's crew won the varsity 8+ race over Drexel and MIT before defeating Dayton and George Mason on Saturday by more than 14 seconds.

The second varsity 8+ topped GMU and Dayton on Saturday, winning by just under five seconds, and finished second against Drexel and MIT on Friday. Georgetown also fielded a varsity 4+ boat that beat George Mason and Dayton by 39.60 seconds on Saturday.

Openweight
Georgetown's openweight squad also had a solid weekend at the GW Invite, including a victory in the varsity 4+ event on Friday over George Washington and George Mason. The Hoyas also posted second-place finishes on Friday against GW and GMU in the varsity 8+ and second varsity 8+ races, while placing third in the second varsity 4+ race.

Saturday's action saw another pair of second-place finishes in the varsity 8+ and second varsity 8+ races against Saint Joseph's and MIT. The second varsity 4+ boat placed second against Rhode Island while the varsity 4+ crew finished third.
