WASHINGTON - Georgetown University seniors Craig Berge (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Nick Marrocco (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) were both named to the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Monday.
The Hoyas dropped a hard-fought 6-5 decision to visiting third-ranked Denver in BIG EAST action on Saturday. The one-goal loss was the second in as many games to open conference play this season.
Berge led the Hoyas with three goals and an assist, and was a part of four of GU's five goals on the day. His offensive outburst put him at 98 points for his career, just two shy of the 100-point milestone. He added three ground balls as well.
Marrocco put together a strong performance between the pipes as he saved nine Denver shots and posted a 6.00 goals against average and .600 save percentage. He also picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover. Marrocco and the Georgetown defense held the Pioneers to their lowest offensive output since 2008 and Denver went scoreless during a 21:42 stretch spanning the first three quarters.
The Hoyas continue to receive votes in both major polls and remain at home as they host Providence on Saturday, April 7 at 3 p.m. Saturday's game will be broadcast on FOX College Sports.
