Hokanson Named to United Soccer Coaches Class of 30 Under 30 Program

WASHINGTON – The No. 10 Georgetown women's soccer team's assistant coach Lyndse Hokanson was named to the United Soccer Coaches 2019-20 Class of the 30 Under 30 Program, announced Wednesday by the organization. The class features 15 men and 15 women selected from a pool of nearly 300 applicants.
Launched in 2013, the 30 Under 30 Program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity designed to support up-and-coming members of the coaching profession who are 30 years of age or younger. Each member of the 30 Under 30 class receives an educational scholarship which provides registrations for the United Soccer Coaches Convention and an Advanced Diploma course of the coach's choosing, as well as a travel stipend to cover costs for attending these events. In addition, members of the 30 Under 30 Program are matched with a mentor dedicated to fostering their growth in the game and expanding their coaching network.

Hokanson is in her fifth season as the assistant coach for the Georgetown University women's soccer team after joining the program in April 2015. During her time at Georgetown, she has worked with the team's goalkeepers and has helped the team win three-straight BIG EAST Championship titles from 2016-18, back-to-back regular season titles in 2017 and 2018, as well as helped guide the Hoyas to a pair of trips to the College Cup in 2016 and 2018.

She is part of a staff that has been recognized as the National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2016 and in 2018 by the United Soccer Coaches, as well as earn the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year award. She helped the Hoyas set multiple team records, including the program record for most wins twice (21 in 2018 and 20 in 2016) and most shutouts (17 in 2017 and 2016) in a season. Her tutelage helped Arielle Schechtman (B'19) break the NCAA shutout percentage record (.809) as Schechtman recorded 17 shutouts in 21 games.

United Soccer Coaches highlights both current and former members of the 30 Under 30 Program throughout the year across a variety of platforms, including Soccer Journal, the United Soccer Coaches Podcast and the association's official social media channels.
