No. 21 Hoyas Travel to No. 1 Boston College on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The No. 21 Georgetown University women's lacrosse team (5-2) will travel to the No. 1 Boston College Eagles (8-0) on Saturday for a noon matchup at the Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Field.  Live stats and a link to a webcast broadcast on the ACC Network Extra will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.

Senior midfielder Francesca Whitehurst (Baltimore, Md. / Roland Park Country School) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday when the league announced its weekly awards.

In a 1-1 week for the Hoyas, Whitehurst totaled six points off of four goals and two assists, four draw controls and two ground balls. She managed a goal and two assists in GU's 13-4 victory over George Washington on Tuesday.  On Saturday, Georgetown narrowly fell to No. 8 Penn, 8-7, behind a hat trick from Whitehurst.

Senior attacker Taylor Gebhardt (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) leads the team in scoring with 17 goals and nine assists for 26 points on the season. She is followed by Whitehurst who has 23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists. Junior midfielder Natalia Lynch (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West) and senior attacker Morgan Ryan (Maplewood, N.J. / Oak Knoll School) are tied for third and fourth, respectively.  Ryan has 17 goals, while Lynch has tallied 13 goals and four assists for 17 points on the season.

Lynch has 28 draw controls on the year followed by freshman midfielder Jordyn Sabourin (Catonsville, Md. / Notre Dame Prep) and Whitehurst with 22 apiece.  Junior Noelle Peragine (Northport, N.Y. / Northport), Lynch and senior Josephine Zinn (Franklin Lakes, N.J. / Immaculate Heart Academy) lead the defense with 11, 10 and nine caused turnovers, respectively.  In goal, senior Haelle Chomo (Naples, Fla. / Barron Collier) has played a majority of the minutes in the cage with 46 saves and an 8.00 goal-against average for the season.

Last weekend, the Eagles held up against No. 5 Northwestern with a 22-17 win, backed by a career-high seven goals from Dempsey Arsenault. For her efforts, Arsenault was named the Division I National Offensive Player of the Week.  BC is undefeated with four wins over ranked opponents including Syracuse, USC, Navy and Northwestern.  Sam Apuzzo leads the team with 41 goals and 14 assists for 55 points, while Kenzie Kent has added 19 points and 33 assists for 52 points on the year.

The Hoyas are 5-0 all-time against the Eagles and 3-0 on the road.  The last meeting was in Massachusetts during the 2005 season as Georgetown managed the 12-8 victory.  At the time the Hoyas were ranked No. 4 in the nation and the matchup was during BIG EAST play when the Eagles were members of the league.  Catherine Elbe led the way with three goals in the win.

Georgetown is in the midst of a challenging three-game road trip as the squad will face three ranked opponents in a three-week span.
