Jordyn Sabourin (Catonsville, Md. / Notre Dame Prep) earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards on Tuesday as Lynch was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week and Sabourin earned Freshman of the Week honors. Additionally, senior attacker
Morgan Ryan (Maplewood, N.J. / Oak Knoll School) earned a spot on the weekly honor roll.
In a 1-1 week for the then No. 18/18 Hoyas, Lynch tallied five points off three goals and two assists, 11 draw controls, six ground balls and five caused turnovers. The junior went for a goal and assist, along with five draws, four ground balls and two caused turnovers in Wednesday's one-goal setback at then-No. 16/15 Johns Hopkins, before registering two goals, an assist, six draws, three CT and two GB in Saturday's 15-11 win at Delaware.
Lynch is currently third on the squad in scoring with 12 goals and four assists for 16 points on the season. She also leads the team in draw controls with 24 and is second in caused turnovers with nine on the year. This is the second weekly award of her career.
Sabourin started both games in the 1-1 week for the Hoyas, totaling six draw controls at Johns Hopkins and Delaware. The freshman helped the Hoyas maintain possession as GU outshot its opponents by a combined 60-44 margin, including 45-35 on net, while forcing 36 total turnovers. She is second on the team in draws with 20 on the year. This is her first career honor, and the Hoyas have earned four total weekly awards on the young season.
Ryan tallied seven goals scoring three at Johns Hopkins before going for four in a win at Delaware. She was 2-2 in free position shots and added three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
This is the fourth nod to the honor roll for the Blue & Gray this season and the first of Ryan's career.
