WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) was selected as one of the 25 men's nominees for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award, as announced on Thursday by The Tewaaraton Foundation. The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.

Also named a Tewaaraton Award Nominee as a junior last season, Bucaro is one of only eight GU players to reach the top 25. Three other Hoyas have also been named nominees multiple times, including Steve Dusseau, Brodie Merrill and Jerry Lambe.

Five men's and five women's finalists will be selected from these groups and invited to the 19th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on Thursday, May 30 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Bucaro leads the Hoyas with 5.21 points per game this season. He has tallied 68 points on 45 goals and 23 assists, all of which rank second on the team. Bucaro has netted at least a hat trick in 12 of 13 games played this season, including four goals in three games and five goals in two other games. He owns four of Georgetown's 10 game-winning goals on the year and has been named the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week three times in 2019.

A preseason All-BIG EAST selection each of the past two seasons, Bucaro was a USILA Honorable Mention All-American and Tewaaraton Award Nominee as a junior. He was named All-BIG EAST First Team as a junior in 2018 and as a sophomore in 2017. He was also tabbed the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and a second team honoree in 2016.

For his career, Bucaro has scored 137 goals to go with 70 assists and ranks second all-time at Georgetown in career points with 207. He is just seven goals shy of tying the career mark for goals, currently held by Georgetown Hall of Famer Scott Urick at 147.
