No. 19 Hoyas Head to Drexel on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The No. 19 Georgetown University women's lacrosse team will hit the road for the first time this season as the squad travels to Philadelphia to take on the Drexel Dragons at noon on Saturday.  The Hoyas are currently 1-1 on the year after defeating St. Joseph's in the season opener, but falling to then-No. 12 Penn.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off of a tough 17-6 loss to then-No. 12 Penn on Saturday at Cooper Field.  Georgetown pulled within three in the second half, but could not stop the late Quaker surge.
  • Senior midfielder Natalia Lynch and sophomore attacker Celia Walsh led the way with two goals apiece as six different Hoyas scored a point.  Lynch also managed four caused turnovers as well as four draw controls.
  • Georgetown was outshot 35-22 and pulled in 10 draw controls to Penn's 14.
  • GU forced 19 turnovers, but committed 24 in the contest.
  • In the cage, senior goalkeeper Micheline DiNardo took the loss with 13 saves on the afternoon, while Penn's Krissy Kowalski had 12 stops and the win.
 
About the Dragons
  • Drexel is coming off of a 16-8 victory over Manhattan on Saturday.
  • Junior Lucy Schneidereith scored seven goals, earning her way to CAA and Drexel Player of the Week honors.
  • The Dragons lost their first game of the 2020 campaign falling to then-No. 24 John Hopkins 13-11 in Baltimore.
  • Drexel was picked to finish tied for fifth in the 2020 CAA Preseason Poll, the squad tied with Elon with 14 points.
 
Series Information
  • Georgetown is 6-6 all-time against the Dragons and 3-3 on the road.
  • The squads have met the past two seasons with GU winning both contests.
  • Last year, Georgetown came away with the 16-5 victory at Cooper Field as Morgan Ryan led the way with four goals, while classmate Taylor Gebhardt managed the hat trick with a pair of assists for five points on the afternoon.
  • The last meeting in Philadelphia was a 16-8 GU win the season prior.
