No. 15 Women Finish Fourth at Paul Short; Men Place 12th at Joe Piane Invitational

WASHINGTON – In a day chock full of races, the No. 15 Georgetown women's cross country team finished fourth as a team in the Paul Short Run Gold 6K Race, tallying 101 points. The women also had a contingent competing in the open race as well. Meanwhile, the men's team made a Midwest swing and took 12th place (289 points) at the Joe Piane Invitational in the Blue 5 Mile Race, a stacked field that featured 10 ranked teams and four squads receiving votes. The men's squad also had a small group compete in the open race.

ON THE RECORD WITH MITCHELL BAKER
"Today was a solid step forward from our season opener three weeks ago. The women are doing very well at taking from races and workouts every little bit that they can to build momentum, so it's fun to see them put those lessons into practice. Obviously the pack running at the front of the Gold race was a performance highlight - those front four worked so well together and leaned in to the task as a unit - but seeing progress across the board today was definitely what we needed as we push to the second half of the season. We rested some athletes today and have supported each other as a group through some trials off the course, so I know this group will be there for each other whatever the second half of the season brings." - Women's Distance Coach Mitchell Baker

ON THE RECORD WITH BRANDON BONSEY
"Today certainly wasn't what we were looking for. I know we are a much better team than what we showed today. Matt Young had an outstanding Hoya debut. I'm really proud of the way he led us. We have to get better from here and we can't run like that again. I'm confident everyone will see a very different Hoya team in two weeks at Pre-Nationals." - Head Men's Cross Country Coach Brandon Bonsey
