WASHINGTON – Senior goalkeeper
Ciara Weets was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year as announced by the conference on Wednesday, earning the first individual regular-season award for Georgetown in program history.
Weets paced the conference in saves and save percentage on the year, totaling 111 saves this season with a conference-best .804 save percentage. Weets posted four shutouts and helped the Hoyas post a 10-8 overall record and a 3-4 finish in BIG EAST competition.
The Hoya keeper was also named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, joining the ranks of the conference's best players for the regular season.
