Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Atlon McKenzie on the Hokie Invitational:
"We had another weekend centered around continuing to build for what's to come later this season. There were some indications of our depth in the mid/distance area on the men's side with Matt Payamps leading the way and chalking up another win, this time at 800 meter, as we went 1-2-3. I was also extremely impressed with Freshman
Melissa Riggins opening up her Hoya career with a third place finish in the 1,000 meter running 2:43.85 seconds; third fastest time at the distance in Hoyas history. Also saw an impressive win by
Joshua Paige in the 300 meter running a new school record of 33.46. He's had an impressive start to his indoor season and is looking forward to more to come. We're now focused on getting in a few weeks of training and preparing for big things to come in February."
