Hoyas Welcome No. 9 Loyola to Cooper Field

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team will host the ninth-ranked Loyola Maryland Greyhounds in a nonconference matchup at Cooper Field on Wednesday night. The opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Hoyas are currently 2-2 on the season and are coming off a 16-6 home victory over the Delaware Blue Hens.

About the Hoyas

  • The Hoyas currently hold a 1-1 home record as they fell to the then-17th ranked Rutgers Scarlet Knights and defeated the Delaware Blue Hens. 

  • The Blue & Gray went up early against  the Blue Hens as they finished the first quarter with a 6-2 advantage. The second half saw Georgetown control the rest of the game until time expired. 

  • GU outshot Delaware 35-21 and forced 21 turnovers.

  • Ali Diamond leads the squad with 13 points on seven goals and six assists, while Annabelle Albert is the top goal scorer for the Hoyas with nine.

  • Jordyn Sabourin had a big afternoon against the Blue Hens as she was able to record five goals and one assist. Sabourin currently has eight goals on the season and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her performance against Delaware. 

  • Kylie Hazen has also started the 2022 season strong by recording nine points on seven goals and two assists.

  • LizaBanks Campagna paces the Georgetown defensive effort as she has 31 draw controls with three caused turnovers. Emma Driggs has 22 draw controls and Melissa Massimino has six draw controls to go along with seven caused turnovers. 

About the Greyhounds

  • Loyola is undefeated this season with a 4-0 record. On the road, they have been able to defeat Johns Hopkins (14-5) and Penn (12-10).

  • The Greyhounds are coming off a commanding 18-9 home victory against Penn State in their last contest. 

  • Loyola leads opponents 57-35 in total goals scored vs. goals allowed in addition to leading 21-2 in assists.

  • Livy Rosenzweig paces the offensive attack with 11 goals and five assists for 16 points. Sydi Black has also recorded 11 goals on the season. 

  • Jillian Wilson has been able to tally 27 draw controls and three caused turnovers while Katie Detwiler has eight draw controls with six caused turnovers. 

  • Detwiler was recently named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Penn State. 

  • Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Larsson has started in all four games for Loyola and has 29 saves on the year with a .453 save percentage.

  • Georgetown trails 12-9 all-time against the Greyhounds and is currently winless in the last seven contests. 

  • The last victory for the Blue & Gray came in 2013.
