Hoyas Conclude Road Schedule at Marquette

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team will finish out its road schedule with a BIG EAST Conference matchup at Marquette on Saturday. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Georgetown is looking to solidify a spot in the BIG EAST Championship coming up in two weeks.

  • The Hoyas are 7-7 on the season and currently hold a 2-1 record in BIG EAST play.
  • In the most recent contest, Georgetown saw its comeback fall short to No. 9 Denver as the Hoyas battled to within one goal but fell 14-12 at Cooper Field.  
  • Graduate student Erin Bakes led the team with three goals and one assist, while senior Ali Diamond managed two goals and three helpers for the Hoyas.
  • Senior Olivia Buckman had an impressive six caused turnovers to go along with one goal. For her efforts she was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week as well as the IWLCA Co-National Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Diamond leads the squad with 41 points on 23 goals and 18 assists.
  • Bakes is second with 33 points on 24 goals and nine assists, while freshman Emma Gebhardt rounds out the top three tallying 27 points this season on 21 goals and six assists.  
  • Graduate student LizaBanks Campagna paces the Georgetown effort on the field as she has 96 draw controls with six caused turnovers. Emma Driggs has 36 draw controls and Jordyn Sabourin has 29.
  • Melissa Massimino adds 24 caused turnovers and Buckman has 19 for the Blue & Gray.
About the Golden Eagles
  • Marquette is 7-8 on the season with a 2-1 BIG EAST record.
  • The Golden Eagles are coming off a 19-10 loss to No. 18 Notre Dame in a midweek matchup. Last weekend, the team downed Butler 24-17 at home.
  • Sunday marks the conclusion of a four-game homestand for Marquette.
  • Mary Schumar paces the offensive attack with 59 points on 22 goals and 37 assists.
  • Shea Garcia is leading in goals with 40 to go along with 14 assists for 54 points on the year.
  • Ellie Henry is a major factor in the defensive effort as she has 18 caused turnovers to go along with 70 draw controls.
Series Info
  • This is the 11th all-time meeting between the two sides as Georgetown holds the 8-2 advantage in the series.
  • The teams split a season ago at Cooper Field with the Hoyas falling on Friday but taking the 20-10 victory on Sunday.
  • The most recent regular season game in Milwaukee was a 14-12 Hoya loss in 2019, the team did later defeat the Golden Eagles 17-10 in Wisconsin just days later in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship.
