WASHINGTON – The No. 11/10 Georgetown women's soccer team plays No. 8/1 Virginia on Thursday afternoon on Shaw Field. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. kickoff with a student-athlete ice cream social before the game (2-4 p.m.) on the Leavey Esplanade.

About the Hoyas
- Henley Tippins was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday. The freshman scored two goals against UMass Lowell in the Hoyas' home opener on Sunday (3-0).
- The Blue & Gray tied No. 14 Penn State last Thursday 2-2 where Tippins scored in her collegiate debut and senior Gia Vicari tabbed her first goal and assist of the season.
- Julia Leas was named to the top 100 players list as announced by United Soccer Coaches this week. Additionally, USC named the midfielder to the 2022 Hermann Watch List.
- Sophomore Tatum Lenain added her first goal of the season against UML on Sunday from an inswinging corner that slipped past the keeper.
- Georgetown is currently 1-0-1 in the 2022 season and was picked first in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll.
About the Cavaliers
- The Cavaliers beat George Mason 3-1 last Thursday followed by a 6-0 win over Loyola Maryland.
- Sarah Brunner, Rebecca Jarrett and Alexa Spaanstra each have two goals in the 2022 season so far.
- Maggie Cagle leads the squad with three assists, Lia Godfrey with two and Brianna Jablonowski, Haley Hopkins and Chloe Japic each with one.
- Godfrey was named to the 2022 Hermann Trophy Watch List and to the Preseason All-ACC List along with Spaanstra.
- Virginia is 2-0 in the 2022 season and was picked second in the ACC Preseason Poll.

- The Hoyas and Cavaliers last played one another in a 2019 nonconference matchup where UVA won 2-0. Georgetown holds a 2-2-0 record against Virginia with two wins in 2016.
