Brock Keener
Keener joined the Georgetown coaching staff in August 2021 as a volunteer assistant coach. In August 2023 he was elevated to hitting coach and co-recruiting coordinator.
In his first season on the Hilltop, Keener was an integral part of the Hoyas' historic 2022 campaign that featured the program's first BIG EAST Baseball Championships appearance since 2018. In 2022, Keener helped coach the first BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in program history,
Owen Carapellotti and was part of the staff that won the program's first BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year award following a six-win campaign in 2021. In his second season on the Hilltop Keener helped coach the Hoyas to back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in program history. Keener helped coach five all-conference selections as
Ubaldo Lopez and
Michael Eze were named first team All-BIG East selections and
Owen Carapellotti,
Jake Hyde and
Austin Kretzschmar earned second team honors.
Keener arrived on the Hilltop in 2021 after spending two seasons at Army where he was the Black Knights' volunteer assistant during the 2020 season. In 2021, Keener's role expanded as he was named an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Black Knights. He helped lead Army to the 2021 Patriot League Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He mentored the conference's Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year while having seven student-athletes selected to postseason All-Patriot League teams. The Black Knights led the conference in both hits (484) and runs scored (328) in 2021.
Prior to Army, Keener was a student assistant coach at Michigan during the 2019 season, helping lead the Wolverines to the program's eighth trip to the NCAA College World Series and its third-ever trip to the CWS Finals, finishing as the national runner-up.
Keener has also served as the head coach of the South Florida Sailfish in the Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches, a summer collegiate league.
As a student-athlete, Keener spent two seasons (2017-18) in a Michigan uniform as a catcher and infielder. He played in 50 career games with the Wolverines before graduating in 2019. Prior to Michigan, he played at Alvin Community College.
Tervont Johnson
Johnson joined the Hoyas in September 2023 as the Hoyas' third assistant coach. Johnson will work with the team's infielders and hitters while also overseeing baserunning efforts for the Hoya offense. Johnson comes to the Hilltop after being on staff with the Frederick Keys in the MLB Draft league this past summer. In 2021, Johnson was a graduate assistant coach at Georgia Tech and helped the Yellow Jackets reach an NCAA Regional. Some of Johnson's previous stops include the Suprise Saguaros Coaching Staff, East Cobb Astros 15u & 17u Coordinator, Wow Factor 17u National Team Hitting Coach, Aggies USA manager/general manager, Sunbelt Collegiate League Atlanta Blues associate head coach, MLB Develops Breakthrough Series coach, Minority Baseball Prospects - game manager and senior consultant, 9th Inning Royals staff, MLB Arizona Fall League coaching staff.
Johnson has spent the past three years working in various roles and was the lead coordinator for his brother, Termarr Johnson's, draft process in 2022. Johnson's brother was taken fourth overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2022 MLB Draft.
In 2020, Johnson played a key role in the facilitation of the first ever HBCU All-Star game in Hoover, Alabama. He also served as the associate head coach of the Atlanta Blues Collegiate League Team and seven of the players Johnson worked with were drafted that season. During Johnson's time with Aggies USA, three athletes were taken in the first round of the MLB Draft (Termarr Johnson, Harry Ford, Druw Jones) and two became NCAA Division I All-Americans (RJ Austin, Michael Braswell). Johnson has also spent time as a private liaison to numerous MLB/MiLB players like CJ Abrams, Antonio Anderson, Druw Jones and Termarr Johnson.
"It is such an honor to have one of my former players on my staff. The relationship I have with Tervont goes back to 2015 when I first started recruiting him. Seeing the growth he has had as a coach and person is fantastic and I am thrilled to welcome him to the Hilltop. He has helped develop some of best players from college, minor leagues and MLB including current Washington Nationals shortstop, CJ Abrams. Tervont has proven himself as one of the best teachers in our game and I know he will continue to help our guys develop on and off the field.
I am glad be back working together again and I think it will help myself, and the rest of our staff push our program forward." – Head Coach
