Women’s Lacrosse Takes on No. 9 Rutgers in First Road Game

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team will travel to Piscataway, New Jersey for a non-conference matchup with the No. 9 Rutgers University Scarlet Knights (2-0) on Saturday afternoon. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Hoyas are currently 1-1 on the season and are coming off a 13-12 home loss to Towson. 

About the Hoyas
  • In Wednesday's contest against the Tigers, Erin Bakes led the Hoya offense with four goals going 2-2 in free position shots. 
  • BIG EAST Attacker of the Week Kylie Hazen tallied four points with three goals and one assist and added four draw controls against Towson. The junior landed five of her six shots on goal. Hazen leads the squad with 11 points, five assists and 11 draw controls.
  • Nicole Massimino picked up three caused turnovers against Towson to lead the Hoyas with four. 
  • The Hoyas outshot the Tigers 34-28 and converted on 80 percent of free position shots compared to Towson's 44 percent.
About the Scarlet Knights
  • Rutgers is coming off of a 11-5 road win over Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights held the Hawks scoreless in the second half to come back from a one-goal deficit.
  • RU's defense tallied 19 caused turnovers with Meghan Ball leading with seven and eight Scarlet Knights recording at least one. 
  • Cassidy Spilis paces the offensive attack with six goals followed by Ashley Campo and Ashley Moynahan with three of their own. 
  • Jenna Byrne is a key facilitator in the Rutgers offense with a team high of six assists. 
  • Junior goalkeeper Sophia Cardello totals 18 saves on 39 shots faced for a .600 save percentage.

  • Last season, Georgetown fell 17-16 at home against Rutgers on February 19.
