Women’s Lacrosse Opens BIG EAST Play at Home Against Marquette

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (5-6) is back on the Hilltop to kick off conference play against Marquette on Saturday, April 1. The opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. on the BIG EAST DIGITAL Network.

About the Hoyas
  • The Blue & Gray faced No. 24 Penn last weekend in a tight back-and-forth battle. The Hoyas ultimately fell 11-10. 
  • In net against the Quakers, GU recorded 17 saves compared to Penn's five. Emily Gaven made eight saves in the first half and Leah Warehime added nine.
  • Gracie Driggs has been on a scoring streak through the last three games. The freshman recorded her second goal of the season at Maryland followed by two goals against Dartmouth and Penn. 
  • Kylie Hazen has been a key factor in generating offense for the Hoyas with a team-best 16 assists and 38 points and is third with 22 draw controls.  
  • Erin Bakes leads the Hoyas with 25 goals followed by Hazen with 22 and Emma Gebhardt with 20. 
  • Nicole Massimino paces the defense with 21 caused turnovers and 25 ground balls followed by Olivia Buckmam with 12 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls. 
  • At the draw, Lily Athanas leads the Hoyas with 27 draw controls followed by Maley Starr with 26. 
About the Golden Eagles 
  • The Golden Eagles advanced to 9-1 on the season after picking up a 17-9 victory over Central Michigan. 
  • Lydia Foust leads with a team-best 32 goals followed by Meg Bireley and Shea Garcia with 26 each. 
  • Mary Schumar leads the Golden Eagles with 40 assists and 53 points. 
  • At the draw, Ellie Henry leads with 56 draw controls followed by Mary Blee with 48 and Josie Kropp with 32. 
Series Info 
  • This is the 13th all-time meeting between the two programs as GU holds the 9-3 advantage in the series. 
  • The Hoyas last faced the Golden Eagles in the 2022 BIG EAST Semifinals where Georgetown earned a 17-13 victory. 
  • Georgetown is 4-1 when paying Marquette on Cooper Field.
