Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Villanova

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (6-7, BE 1-1) will host Villanova (9-4, BE 1-2) on the Hilltop for a midday BIG EAST contest on Saturday. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

About the Hoyas
  • The Blue & Gray earned a dominating conference win over Xavier (25-8) last week. GU's 25 goals are the second-most scored by a BIG EAST team this season.
  • Georgetown's win was led by Erin Bakes with seven goals, a personal single-game high as a Hoya. Bakes was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her performance against Xavier. 
  • Kylie Hazen contributed five goals against the Musketeers while Katie Goldsmith, Tessa Brooks and Lily Tradif each added two apiece. Maley Starr, Cate Parsells and Olivia Rubin each added one goal while Jacqueline Jaskiewicz, Neely Holt, Lauren Lisauskas and Reilly Hogan each tallied their first goal of the season.
  • Hazen has been the key to GU's offense with a career-high and squad-best 50 points, tallying 31 goals and team-high 19 assists. Bakes is second with 37 points (32 G, 5 A) followed by Emma Gebhardt with 36 points (23 G, 13 A). 
  • In net, Emily Gaven totals 69 saves for a .439 save percentage. Leah Warehime has been GU's second-half goalie throughout the season totaling 59 saves for a .504 save percentage.
  • Nicole Massimino paces the defense with 23 caused turnovers and 29 ground balls followed by Melissa Massimino with 15 caused turnovers and 12 ground balls. 
  • At the draw, Maley Starr leads the Blue & Gray with 32 draw controls followed by Hazen with 30 and Lily Athanas with 28.

About the Wildcats
  • After dropping its first two conference games, Villanova collected a 15-5 win over Butler on April 8. 
  • Caroline Curnal leads the BIG EAST with 9.15 draw controls per game (119). 
  • Sydney Pappas leads the Wildcats with 39 goals and 48 points followed by Curnal with 30 goals and Sami Carey with 43 points. 
  • In net, Kate Montalto leads the BIG EAST with a .800 save percentage and a goals-against average of two. 
Series Info 
  • Saturday's contest will be the 28th all-time meeting between the two programs. 
  • Georgetown holds the advantage 22-5 and is currently on a 19-game win streak over the Wildcats. 
  • Last season, the Hoyas earned a 13-11 road victory against Villanova led by Bakes with four goals. 
  • During the Wildcats' last visit to the Hilltop in 2021, the Hoyas captured two dominating victories 19-11 and 18-8. Hazen led with a total of eight goals in two games.
