Women’s Lacrosse Caps Off Road Swing at Denver

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (6-9, 1-3 BE) finishes its two-game road trip in Denver, Colorado for a rematch of the 2022 BIG EAST Championship against No. 3 Denver (15-0, 4-0 BE). 

About the Hoyas
  • The Hoyas are coming off a 13-9 loss at UConn on Wednesday afternoon. 
  • Against the Huskies, Erin Bakes led the Blue & Gray with four goals to record a new season high as a Hoya with 38. Kylie Hazen followed with two goals of her own while Maley Starr, Emma Gebhardt, and Rileigh Meyer each tallied one.
  • GU outshot the Huskies 42-28 while also tallying more draw controls (16-10) and ground balls (16-14).
  • Hazen has been the key to GU's offense with a career-high and squad-best 55 points, tallying 35 goals and a team-high 20 assists. Bakes is second with 43 points (38 G, 5 A) followed by Emma Gebhardt with 40 points (25 G, 15 A). 
  • In net, Emily Gaven totals 76 saves for a .427 save percentage. Leah Warehime has been GU's second-half goalie throughout the season totaling 70 saves for a .496 save percentage.
  • Nicole Massimino paces the defense with 24 caused turnovers and 31 ground balls followed by Melissa Massimino with 18 caused turnovers and 15 ground balls.

  • The Pioneers are coming off a 23-6 victory over Xavier last weekend. Denver is now the only team in the country that remains undefeated this season. 
  • Julia Gilbert is the Pioneers' leading scorer with 40 goals and a team-high 45 points. 
  • Sam Thacker paces the defense with 37 caused turnovers while Trinity McPherson tallies a squad high of 37 ground balls. 
  • At the draw, Abby Jenkins leads the Pioneers with 94 draw controls and is second in the conference with 5.85 per game. 
  • In net, Emelia Bohi has started in all 15 games for Denver. The Sophmore totals 79 saves for a .491 save percentage.
