Liz Sack Elevated to Associate Head Coach

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University field hockey's Liz Sack has been elevated to associate head coach, as announced by Head Coach Christy Longacre on Thursday. Sack enters her third season on the Hilltop for the 2023 campaign.

"We have been so fortunate to have Liz a part of our program for the last few years," Longacre said. "She is an extremely hard worker and a committed coach to our players and staff. She has also taken the lead as the recruiting coordinator for our program and has done a phenomenal job bringing in top talent and great people. This promotion is a well-deserved recognition of her contributions to the university, our team and individually to all of our student-athletes."

Sack joined the Georgetown field hockey staff for the 2021 season and her presence immediately paid dividends. The Hoyas posted a 10-8 record, their best in program history, and a fifth-place finish in the BIG EAST standings, also a program-best.

"I am honored to be given the opportunity to work alongside Christy as associate head coach," said Sack. "I'd like to thank her for her leadership and unwavering support in my coaching development and our sport administrator, Marissa Gatson, for her belief in my coaching and investment in our program. We are building a transformative field hockey experience here at Georgetown and I am grateful to contribute to the storied tradition of Georgetown Athletics. I look forward to getting the 2023 season underway with our amazing staff and student-athletes!"

Prior to joining the Blue & Gray, Sack was an assistant coach at Saint Joseph's for four seasons. With the Hawks, she helped guide SJU to its first three NCAA Tournament berths in program history and the Hawks ended the 2018 season ranked 10th in the final NFHCA Coaches Poll, the highest ranking in program history. Saint Joseph's won three Atlantic 10 championships under her watch as Sack guided six student-athletes to NFHCA All-America recognition.

A standout on the pitch herself, Sack played four years at Syracuse and helped the Orange to a pair of national championship game appearances, including winning the NCAA title in 2015. She played in 70 games during her career, scoring 12 goals to go with seven assists for 31 points.
