Georgetown Travels to Villanova for Final Regular Season Road Contest

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team will travel to Villanova, Pennsylvania to take on the Villanova Wildcats on Thursday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. at Higgins Soccer Complex.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (9-2-4, 5-1-1 BE) is coming off a 1-0 victory on Thursday night against the Providence College Friars.
  • Maja Lardner was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after a fantastic two games in a 2-0 week for GU. Lardner tallied the lone goal of the game against Providence last Thursday marking her fourth game-winner of the campaign. The senior dominated on Sunday tallying two goals and an assist en route to a 4-0 win over Marquette. Lardner netted her fifth game winner of the season as she slotted home two in the first half.
  • Ellen Carter was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after she helped anchor the Hoya back line in a 2-0 week. Carter, the Hermosa Beach, California native picked up her second assist of the season against Marquette as GU cruised to its 11th clean sheet of the season.
  • Lardner, Eliza Turner and Natalie Means pace the Hoya offense as the trio has combined for 48 of the Hoyas' 100 points this season. Lardner leads the squad in goals with 10 and is second in assists (5) while Means leads the team in assists with six. Turner has a career-high six goals on the season ranking second on the team and has one assist to her credit.
  • GU ranks eighth nationally in shutout percentage (0.688) and fourth nationally in goals against average (0.438).
  • Georgetown currently ranks 12th nationally in shots per game (19.69), second in the nation in corner kicks per game (8.56) and 17th in shots on goal per game (8.69).
ABOUT VILLANOVA
  • Villanova (5-5-5, 2-1-4 BE) enters Thursday's contest after a 0-0 draw with UConn on Sunday.
  • Susanna Soderman paces the 'Cats offense with 15 points this season. Soderman leads the team in goals and assists with six and three to her credit.
  • Hannah Dickinson has started all 15 games in goal for the Wildcats. Dickinson boasts a 0.93 GAA and has made 76 saves on the year.

The Blue & Gray will return to action on Thursday, October 31 as the Blue & Gray close out the regular season at Shaw Field against Xavier in a rematch of the 2023 BIG EAST Championship game.
