Emma Gebhardt with seven goals in a 18-13 victory over American in the 2024 season opener.

How It Happened
- Gracie Driggs got the Hoyas on the board early, scoring in the opening 25 seconds of the contest with an assist from Kylie Hazen. Gebhardt added to GU's lead six minutes later to make the score 2-0. The Eagles leveled the score with two back-to-back goals, the first one being a player-up. Gebhardt found the back of the net with 1:18 left in the first quarter to put the Hoyas up 3-2 at the end of the first.
- AU started the second quarter with a player-up advantage and scored in the opening minute to tie the contest 3-3. Two minutes later, the Eagles grabbed their first lead of the game with a goal from Kellie Linehan. Gebhardt responded for the Hoyas, scoring three consecutive goals to put the Hoyas up 6-4. AU and the Hoyas exchanged a pair of goals but Kylie Hazen's player-up goal at the 1:34 mark widened GU's lead 9-6 at halftime.
- After a scoreless opening 10 minutes of the third quarter, Gebhardt scored her sixth goal of the afternoon to put the Hoyas up 10-6. Two minutes later, Becca Frank added a score for the Eagles but GU added three goals to close out the third quarter up 13-7.
- The Eagles started the fourth quarter off with a goal from Reagan Murdoch. AU and GU traded goals before Hazen scored two back-to-back goals to earn her 100th career goal as a Hoya. At the 8:43 mark, Driggs scored a free-position goal to put Georgetown up 17-9. AU responded with a three-goal run to make the score 17-12. At the 2:07 mark Tessa Brooks found the back of the net to cap off the scoring for the Hoyas. AU scored a player-up goal with a minute remaining to make the final score 18-13.
Of Note
- Gebhardt led the scoring for the Hoyas with seven goals followed by Hazen with three. Hazen's third goal marks her 100th career goal as a Hoya.
- Driggs led the squad with eight draw controls.
- Geist, Melissa Massimino and Lily Athanas each earned two caused turnovers.
- GU outshot American 44-21, holding the Eagles to just two shots in the third.
