WASHINGTON – Following two days of action at the par-71, 6,320-yard course at Birdwood Golf Club, the Georgetown University women's golf team tied for eighth place at the 2024 Cavalier Regional Preview. The Hoyas carded a 40-over 892 (303-293-296) in Charlottesville, as the No. 20 University of Virginia hosted a field of 12 teams. The University of North Carolina, currently receiving votes in the Division I Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll, won the three-round tournament with a score of 22-under 830 (278-271-281).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Megan Gormley was the top Hoya finisher as she finished tied for 15th at 4-over 217 (73-69-75). In the final round, she managed one birdie and 12 pars. Her final score was fueled by six birdies and 38 pars over three rounds.
- Georgia Ruffolo was the second Hoya on the leaderboard as she closed the three-round tournament at 10-over 223 (78-72-73) to tie for 26th. She carded a 2-over 73 in the final round fueled by a pair of birdies and 12 pars, totaling five birdies and 35 pars across both days of play.
- Gabriella Eifrig was also in a tie for 26th place as she finished with a two-day score of 10-over 223 (73-74-76). The freshman added a trio of birdies and 10 pars in the third round to finish the tournament with seven birdies and 35 pars.
- Finishing in a tie for 45th, Charlotte Hillary closed the tournament at 18-over 231 (79-80-72), finishing the tournament with her best round of the season thus far. She tallied a trio of birdies and added 12 pars to go 1-over par in the final round. The graduate student totaled five birdies and 28 pars over three rounds.
- Catherine Qiu tied for 68th place after carding a 33-over 246 (82-78-86). Her final round saw the freshman tally nine pars. Over two days, she managed 31 pars.
- Playing as an individual, Claire Chen finished in 70th place, just one stroke behind teammate Qiu. She closed the tournament at 34-over 247 (85-83-79), playing her best round on Tuesday. Her day featured one birdie and nine pars for a two-day total of one birdie and 28 pars.
