WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Madison, Wisconsin to compete in the Nuttycombe Invitational against a stacked field that included 18 ranked opponents on the men's side and 15 ranked opponents on the women's side. The women finished third out of 25 teams in the Championship race, while the men finished 13th out of 24 teams in their championship race.
ON THE RECORD
"I was pleased with the Men's performance. James Dunne, Lucas Guerra and Luke Ondracek executed great races. We need to be better with our 4-7 runners. The result wasn't exactly what we wanted but it proved we have the pieces to be very good this season. I am very encouraged by this. We will go back to work and look to be better at Princeton in 3 weeks." - Men's Cross Country Head Coach Brandon Bonsey
"We leaned into our depth today as about half of the squad had some struggles. To survive that and come away with a top-three finish says something about the squad's ability to step up when needed. Riggins and Jenks were a really solid 1-2, but it was Tomkinson and Justema who showed their developing class to finish as our 3-4; their back third showed a major step in their development as racers. Most of the top teams were sitting athletes or weren't sharp, so we have our work cut out to keep getting better. The group seems hungry for that." - Women's Cross Country Head Coach Mitchell Baker
