WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University Department of Athletics announced the recipients of its five major department awards for the 2024-25 academic year. Four programs and two alums were honored as GU released its awards for Outstanding Achievement by a Female Athlete, Outstanding Achievement by a Male Athlete, and Outstanding Coaching Achievement, as well as the Robert A. Duffey Scholar-Athlete Award. The honorees were recognized at Saturday's men's basketball game.

Robert A. Duffey Scholar-Athlete Award
The Robert A. Duffey Scholar-Athlete Award is presented each year to the Georgetown senior who best exhibits excellence in both academics and athletics.
Aidan Carroll – Men's Lacrosse
- Carroll was unanimously elected to serve as team captain for a second season, once again leading the Hoyas to a BIG EAST Tournament win and NCAA Tournament appearance in his final year on the Hilltop. The Milton, Massachusetts native was selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year in 2025 and became the only player in league history to be named BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player twice.
- The graduate student was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List and a USILA Second Team All-American, as well as being a Nike Lacrosse Media Honorable Mention All-American and USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American.
- Carroll scored 50 goals to go with 27 assists for 77 points in 2025 – the fifth most in a single season at Georgetown. He became just the third Hoya in program history with two seasons with at least 60 points. He finished his tenure ranked 12th in career points (154) and career goals (97) at Georgetown.
- Off of the field, Carroll is a five-time BIG EAST All-Academic selection (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025).
- Carroll was selected in the first round (7th overall) of the 2025 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft by the Maryland Whipsnakes. He is the fourth PLL first rounder in program history and tied for the second-highest PLL selection with Will Bowen (MSF'23).
- He graduated with a master's degree in global real assets.

Outstanding Achievement by a Female Athlete
Kelsey Ransom – Women's Basketball
- Ransom finished out her final season as one of the top players in the nation, having been named to the Women's College All-Star Game Watch List and the First Team All-BIG EAST.
- The South River, New Jersey native led the league in scoring, averaging 20.4 ppg, and also ranked fifth in the league in both assists and steals with 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
- She also managed 6.1 rebounds per game to sit at eighth in the BIG EAST.
- Ransom's leadership skills shone through in her time on the Hilltop, as she served as team captain in both her junior and graduate years and was co-winner of the 2025 BIG EAST Sportsmanship Award.
- Ransom has previously earned league honors including BIG EAST Player of the Week, BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, First Team All-BIG EAST (2024), Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST (2023), All-Freshman Team, and 15 BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nods in her career.
- Ransom is the only player in GU history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists.
- She holds the record for most career assists (540) in program history, and her 2,017 career points put her at third all-time in scoring.
- Ransom is also third on GU's career steals list with 323, and eighth in rebounds with 766 total.
- She currently holds the Georgetown record for steals in a game with 10 on December 21, 2022.
- Off of the court, Ransom was a founding member of Hoyos, a women's affinity group on campus, a member of SAAC and Georgetown's Black Student-Athlete Alliance, and a BIG EAST All-Academic selectee in 2024 and 2025.
- She graduated with a master's degree in higher education administration.
- After graduating, Ransom signed with the Sykeon Athletic Association "Panathletikos" located in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Outstanding Achievement by a Male Athlete
Abel Teffra – Men's Track & Field / Cross Country
- Teffra had a record-breaking final year on the Hilltop, placing highly in a number of events.
- He was the 2025 NCAA Champion in the indoor mile, setting a new meet record of 3:53.60.
- Teffra led Georgetown at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships, finishing 65th with a time of 29:39.1, and took second in the men's 800 at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a personal-best time of 1:45.67.
- The graduate student earned an automatic qualifying spot to the finals site of the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships following his a first-place finish in the men's 1500 in the quarterfinals.
- His other notable performances this year include shattering the school record in the mile with a time of 3:52.44 (clocking in at seventh on the NCAA all-time list), setting a new school record in the 1500 (3:33.84, the sixth-fastest in NCAA history) and recording the second-fastest 1000-meter time in collegiate history at 2:17.39.
- Teffra was also part of the men's DMR team that broke the school record and the 4x800 relay team that set the third-fastest time in Georgetown outdoor track & field history.
- Teffra earned a plethora of honors in the 2024-25 season, including NCAA Men's Cross Country All-Region, All-BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Team, 3x BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week, BIG EAST Indoor Mile Champion, NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship First-Team All-American, and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year.
- The Fresno, California native was a USTFCCCA All-Academic selection in both cross country and track & field.
- He graduated with a master's degree in project management.

Outstanding Coaching Achievement
Women's Rowing Coaching Staff – Kendall Mulligan, Abbey Piaget, Serra Sevenler, Mel Clute
- Mulligan led a historic showing at the 2025 PATL Women's Rowing Championship, winning bronze in the 1V4 and 1V8, marking the program's first-ever medal in the 1V8, along with a program-best gold in the 2V8. Her contributions helped the team achieve its highest-ever finish with second-place overall.
- Mulligan and her staff also guided the women's rowing team to achieving multiple medals at the IRA National Championship and winning the All Points Trophy at the Dad Vail Regatta for the second consecutive year.
- In 2025, Mulligan was the inaugural recipient of the Kate Godwin Award for Dad Vail Coach of the Year Award.

Outstanding Contribution to Athletics
Tim Brosnan (C'80) and Marc Sulam (B'84)
- Both Hoyas were honored for their work with Georgetown's collective, Hoyas Rising.
- They were instrumental in getting it off the ground and ushering Georgetown into the NIL-era.
