Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Villanova

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (5-5, 0-1 BE) is back on the Hilltop to host BIG EAST foe Villanova (8-3, 2-0 BE) on Wednesday, April 2. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Cooper Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas are coming off a 16-13 setback to then-No. 25 Denver in the BIG EAST conference opener at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday afternoon. 
  • Against the Pioneers, Gracie Driggs led the offense with four goals and one assist, followed by Hanna Bishop with three goals and one assist. 
  • Emma Gebhardt notched two goals, including her 100th career goal. 
  • Bishop leads the Hoyas with 35 points (19G, 16A) while Driggs leads with 31 goals. 
  • Anne McGovern is the leading playmaker for GU with 18 assists. 
  • Driggs commands the circle for the Hoyas with 60 draw controls, while Lily Athanas follows with 26.
  • Christina King and Mikaila Kitchen led the defense with 10 caused turnovers each.
  • In net, Leah Warehime has 75 saves for a .408 save percentage.  
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
  • Villanova is coming off an 18-6 BIG EAST win over Butler at Villanova Stadium on Saturday afternoon. 
  • Sami Carey leads the offense with 50 points (18G, 32A), followed by Sydney Pappas with 37 (27G, 10A).
  • At the circle, Emma Verhoest leads the squad with 116 draw controls. 
  • Amelia Ricciuti leads the defense with 14 caused turnovers, followed by Juliet Walls and Katie Clark with 11 each. 
  • In net, Cate Gallagher (.446 save percentage) and Makenzie Fisher (.359 save percentage) each have 33 saves. 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Wednesday's contest will be the 30th meeting for the Hoyas and the Wildcats, dating back to 1977.
  • GU holds a 23-6 advantage over Villanova, including a 10-3 record on the Hilltop.
