Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Butler on Alumni Day

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (7-6, 2-1 BE) will host BIG EAST foe Butler (0-10, 0-4 BE) on Saturday, April 8. The opening draw is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Cooper Field. The Hoyas will also be honoring the women's lacrosse alumni in a halftime ceremony during the game.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas are coming off a 16-11 setback to JMU on Wednesday afternoon. 
  • Against the Dukes, Gracie Driggs led the Hoyas with six goals and seven draw controls, while BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Sophia Loschert, added two goals. Anne McGovern, Hanna Bishop and Ziegler each added one, while McGovern also led with five helpers. 
  • On the season, Bishop leads the Hoyas with 48 points (23G, 25A) while Driggs leads with 39 goals. 
  • Bishop and McGovern are the leading playmakers for GU with 25 assists each. 
  • Driggs commands the circle for the Hoyas and is third in program history with 87 draw controls on the season.
  • Christina King leads the defense with 14 caused turnovers, followed by Lily Athanas with 12. 
  • In net, Leah Warehime has 99 saves for a .406 save percentage.  
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
  • Butler is coming off two home losses last week against UConn and UC Davis. 
  • Elise Latham leads the Bulldogs with 26 points and 22 goals. 
  • At the circle, Patricia Lynn leads with 27 draw controls.
  • Defensively, Alyssa Lentz has a squad-best 25 ground balls while Grace Hensley leads with eight caused turnovers. 
  • In net, Lentz has 102 saves for a .400 save percentage. 
  • Head Coach Maggie Zentgraf is in her third season at the helm of the Butler women's lacrosse program.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Saturday's contest will be the ninth meeting for the Hoyas and the Bulldogs, dating back to 2017. 
  • GU holds an 8-0 advantage over Butler. 
  • Last season, the Hoyas downed the Bulldogs 18-10 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Butler's last visit to the Hilltop was on April 29, 2023, where GU earned a 21-5 victory on Cooper Field.
