Box Score WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team defeated James Madison 4-0 on Thursday evening. With the win, GU improves to 1-0-1 on the season while JMU slides to 1-1-1.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Tonight was actually a really good performance by the team. We made James Madison, look quite ordinary and they are not an ordinary team. This was a game that I felt was going to be a real challenge for us, based on their style and how they like to play. But we prepared well all week, we've had some good practices. We were a little bit disappointed after the game last week. Maybe it was the occasion of our first game under the lights and the first game of the season, but we stepped up tonight. I felt we evolved into a better team. Scored some good goals, should have had some more. Kept the shutout, which was nice, kept
Cara Martin pretty bored, which we would want. Overall, I'm proud of the kids tonight, because I thought the girls who came off the bench gave us some energy, kept the levels high, which is what you always want when you make changes. But we realize now we've got a difficult game on Sunday, on the road, and that's going to be a challenge, but I think we'll go down there with a little bit of confidence, knowing that if we play well and we'll be very competitive."
