WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team will open the 2026 campaign at American University on Friday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m.

About the Hoyas

  • Sophomore Sophia Loschert returns to the lineup as the reigning 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year after recording 40 points on 34 goals and six assists last season.
  • Defensive leader Kendall Steer anchors the backline after starting all 17 games in 2025 and leading the squad with 30 ground balls.
  • Head Coach Caitlyn Phipps is entering her second season at the helm of the Hoyas. In her debut 2025 season, she led the team to a 9–8 record and a 4–2 mark in BIG EAST play. Phipps and her staff were awarded the 2025 BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.

  • The Eagles' defensive unit is headlined by juniors Deirdre Brown and Sammie Buonaccorsi, who both ranked in the team's top five for caused turnovers and ground balls last season.
  • Sophomore transfer Brooke Hill (USF) is expected to start in goal, replacing Caleigh Forti, who ranked third in the NCAA in saves last year.
