WASHINGTON – Georgetown University women's lacrosse won two major conference accolades this week as junior attacker
Anne McGovern was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week and junior defender
Amanda Brille was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. Senior attacker
Gracie Driggs earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week.
The Hoyas were honored for their performances in a perfect 2-0 road stretch, highlighted by a 12-6 upset of No. 5 Johns Hopkins and an 8-6 victory over Saint Joseph's.
Anne McGovern | Jr. | Attacker – BIG EAST Attacker of the Week
McGovern was the engine of the Hoya offense during their signature win over No. 5 Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field. The junior recorded a season-high seven points (4G, 3A), having a hand in over half of Georgetown's scoring output in the upset. McGovern displayed elite poise, netting a momentum-shifting goal with just 14 seconds remaining in the first half to secure a lead the Hoyas would not let up. She followed that performance with another goal against Saint Joseph's to maintain her position as the team's leading point-scorer (20 points).
Amanda Brille | Jr. | Defender – BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Brille anchored a defensive unit that held two high-powered opponents to an average of just 6.0 goals per game this week. Her performance against No. 5 Johns Hopkins was a masterclass in hustle and possession; she recorded a game-high five ground balls and a career-high six draw controls. Her ability to disrupt the Blue Jays' transition game and secure 50/50 balls was the primary reason Hopkins was held to its lowest scoring total of the 2026 season.
Gracie Driggs | Sr. | Attacker – BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Driggs earns her second straight Honor Roll nod after a clinical 2-0 week. The senior attacker netted six goals across the two contests, including a four-goal outburst in the win over Johns Hopkins. Driggs continues to be a primary threat in the draw circle and a high-efficiency finisher for the Blue & Gray, currently leading the Hoya starters with a .545 shooting percentage on the season.
