WASHINGTON - Junior Alex Verdi (Ivyland, Pa./Germantown Academy) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after two outstanding games this past week. Verdi and the Hoyas went 2-0 defeating Seton Hall, 2-1, and Pittsburgh in double overtime, 1-0. Georgetown is currently 8-3-1 overall and 5-2 in BIG EAST play.

Verdi was a part of the defense that posted its eighth shutout of the season in the victory over Pitt. The junior defender headed in the game-winner in the 107th minute marking just his third career goal. He also played a big role in the win over Seton Hall, one of the hottest offensive teams in the conference.

Earlier this season, Verdi was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.

Georgetown will take on No. 11/10 Maryland on Tuesday at North Kehoe Field. This will be the 27th meeting between the two squads.
