WASHINGTON - The Georgetown baseball team's series at Davidson looked to be in serious doubt this weekend as the state of North Carolina was hit with a winter storm on Wednesday night. However, the Hoyas and Wildcats will salvage two games of the series as the two teams will meet on Sunday for a doubleheader at Davidson's Wilson Field.

Sunday's first game will begin at 11 a.m. with senior left-hander Matt Hollenbeck (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) taking the mound for the Hoyas (1-3). First pitch of the second game will be shortly after the conclusion of the first with junior right-hander Matt Smith (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) getting the ball for the Blue & Gray.

Sunday's contests are the second and third in a stretch where the Hoyas will play 12 games in 18 days, including seven games during the team's spring break trip to Port Charlotte, Florida.

Head Coach Pete Wilk enters Sunday's doubleheader with 299 career victories. Already the all-time winningest coach in Georgetown baseball history, the Hoyas will look to secure win No. 300 for Wilk.

Scouting Davidson ...
Davidson enters Sunday with a 3-2 record with two wins over Michigan and one against Appalachian State. The Wildcats are batting .224 as a team with three home runs and an average of just over seven hits per game. They have a staff ERA of 3.80 and a team fielding percentage of just .937.

Ben Arkin leads Davidson's offense with a .429 (6-for-14) batting average in four games and David Daniels is hitting .333 (6-for-18) with a home run and four RBI. Reliever Matt Saeta is 2-0 in six innings out of the bullpen. The Wildcats' starting pitcher in game one, Clark Beeker, has a 2.45 ERA and 12 strikeouts in two starts, covering 11 innings. Game two's starter, Rob Bain, is 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA in two starts this season.

Last Time Out...
Georgetown's offense struggled, managing only seven singles, in a 3-0 setback to George Washington on Wednesday. Jack Vander Linden (Dallas, Texas/Episcopal School of Dallas) made his first start of the season as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery last spring. He went three scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out one. Simon Mathews (West Haven, Conn./Hopkins School) followed that up with three nearly perfect innings, giving up just one hit.

What's Up Next ...
The Hoyas are scheduled to play midweek games against UMBC (Tuesday, 2:30 p.m.) at Shirley Povich Field and at George Washington (Wednesday, 2:30 p.m.) at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Virginia. The Blue & Gray will then depart for its nine-day, seven game spring break trip to Port Charlotte, Florida.
