BALTIMORE - The Georgetown baseball team dropped its final non-conference game of the regular season, 4-1, to the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) on Tuesday night. The contest was played at the Retrievers' Alumni Field in Baltimore.
Nick Collins (Carthage, N.C./Union Pines) led the offense with two hits. Chase Bushor (San Diego, Calif./Santa Fe Christian), Charlie Dillon (Chicago, Ill./Berkshire School), Eric Webber (Stockton, Calif./Saint Mary's) and Beau Hall (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) were all on base twice.
Nick Leonard (Washington, D.C./Maret) pitched 4.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits while striking out three. Jordan Chudacoff (Highland Park, Ill./New Trier/Lawrenceville) also had a scoreless outing, going 1.2 innings.
UMBC (31-16) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first two innings off of Jack Vander Linden (Dallas, Texas/The Episcopal School of Dallas).
The Hoyas (24-24) scored their lone run in the top of the third. Hall led off with a single that fell just in front of the diving left fielder. He moved to second on a ground out and, with two outs and following a walk to Bushor, scored on an RBI double by Collins down the left field line.
The Blue & Gray conclude the regular season with a three-game BIG EAST series at Seton Hall this Thursday-Saturday, May 14-16. Thursday's game will begin at 6 p.m. while both Friday and Saturday will begin at 1 p.m.
