May 26, 2017 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University track & field All-American Michael Lederhouse was named to the Academic All-District Men's Track & Field Team for District II, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Lederhouse was an integral part of the 2016 men's cross country campaign as the fifth point scorer on the squad that finished 21st at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. He turned in an All-BIG EAST performance at the 2016 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships, where the Hoyas successfully defended their team crown from the season prior.
Over his career, Lederhouse has been named an All-American once as part of GU's NCAA indoor distance medley relay (DMR) squad that picked up second team honors in 2016. He competed on both the 2016 NCAA cross country squad as well as the 2015 NCAA cross country team, where the Blue & Gray finished 10th overall.
He was part of the 2015 and 2016 BIG EAST Cross Country championship squads, earning all-league honors both seasons. Lederhouse has garnered a pair of BIG EAST event titles (2016 indoor DMR, 2014 outdoor 4x800m) and has been named All-BIG EAST six times in his career.
The All-American earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business as an international political economy major in 2016. He continued his education during the 2016-17 year, working toward a master's degree in integrated marketing communication.
A four-time member of the BIG EAST Conference All-Academic team, Lederhouse has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team a total of five times, twice in cross country and three times in track & field.
With the accolade, Lederhouse earns the first CoSIDA academic all-district honor for the men's track & field / cross country program since 2014 when Matt Howard picked up the distinction.
