Director of Track & Field Alton McKenzie:
"Overall, we had some very impressive performances here at the championships. One of the highlights on the women's side was Sami Corman's win in the 3K, in a very competitive race that was decided by a tremendous kick on her part. Our women's 4x800m relay team of Rachel Sessa, Kiera Bothwell, Sierra Dinneen and Melissa Riggins also secured a win that keeps a streak alive of winning this event at the conference meet (four in a row). We also had third place finishes in the field with freshman Chloe Williams having a big PB in the Long Jump (5.77m) and Eni Akinniyi finishing third in the Triple Jump (12.07m).

Our men showed our depth in the mid-distance events and the biggest highlight of our performances has to be the sweep of the podium in the mile by Parker Stokes, Matt Rizzo and Jack Salisbury. If 1-2-3 wasn't enough, all three also went under the old BIG EAST Record in the mile. I've been a Hoya for some time and I don't recall that feat happening so that stood out today for sure. Josh Paige also helped make a little history with his win in the 200m in 21.19, making it four straight 200m wins by a Hoya in this event Indoors at the Conference Championship. Matt Payamps finishing second in the 800m was nothing to be ashamed of as his 1:47.78 now ranks him fourth fastest in the 800m in school history. It also took a meet record to win. Speaking of meet records, our men's 4x800m put on a show with Tim McInerney, Abel Teffra, Matt Rizzo and Parker Stokes leading from start to finish to win with a new BIG EAST meet record; 7:23.62 is good running from in front. Parker on the anchor leg also secured his well-deserved Track Athlete of the Meet recognition.

We were just eight points out of second on the men's side so we know there is immense quality within our program. This sets us up well for the outdoor season and is good momentum for those transitioning to outdoor. We're looking forward to what's to come for the spring."
