WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team has released its 2024 schedule presented by MedStar Health, as announced by Head Coach AJ Bonetti on Wednesday.
"I'm excited for the challenges that await us this upcoming fall season," said Bonetti. "We have opponents that will present us with unique tests each week during nonconference play to be better prepared for our always rigorous Big East Conference slate. We are attempting to raise the standard and expectations every year. I am excited for our returners as much as I am for our newcomers to step up to the challenge in year two".
Georgetown opens the 2024 campaign with its first nine nonconference matches being played locally in the DMV. The Hoyas host the annual DC Challenge opening weekend, welcoming American, UC Riverside and Howard to McDonough Arena the weekend of August 30-September 1. The next weekend is a split-site affair for the Maryland Invitational as the Blue & Gray battles Alabama A&M and North Texas in College Park on September 6 before hosting Hampton in the District on September 7. Wrapping up the local action a week later, GU welcomes IU Indy, Rider and George Washington to the Hilltop the weekend of September 13-14 for the DC Showdown.
The Hoyas final tune up before BIG EAST play is at the Greensboro Invitational the weekend of September 20-21. Georgetown takes on Marshall, host UNC Greensboro and Tennessee Tech in the event.
BIG EAST action begins on the road at Villanova on September 27 before the Hoyas host St. John's on September 29. A New England road trek follows against UConn and Providence on October 4 and 5, respectively, before returning home to host DePaul on October 11 and Xavier on October 12.
Georgetown's first midweek match is at Seton Hall on October 16, followed by a trip to Indianapolis to face Butler on October 19. The Hoyas then welcome a pair of nationally-ranked opponents in Creighton and Marquette on October 25 and 27, respectively.
Opening November on the road with a Midwest swing, the Blue & Gray take on Xavier on November 1 and DePaul on November 3 before hosting Providence and UConn a week later on November 8 and 9. Georgetown's final road trip is at Marquette on November 15 and at Creighton on November 17 before wrapping up the regular season at home against Seton Hall on November 20 and Butler on November 22 for Senior Night.
The 2024 BIG EAST Championship, Presented by JEEP will be hosted by Creighton the week of November 27-30 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Georgetown returns 11 letterwinners from the 2023 campaign and brings in five newcomers to the roster for 2024.
