No. 20/25 Georgetown Travels to Omaha to Open BIG EAST Play

WASHINGTON – The No. 20/25 Georgetown University women's soccer team will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to take on the Creighton Bluejays in the Hoyas BIG EAST opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, September 13 at Morrison Stadium.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown enters Saturday's contest with a 4-2-2 record after falling to Saint Mary's 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. That was only the second loss by two or more goals for the Hoyas in the past three seasons.
  • Cara Martin has logged all 720 minutes in goal for the Blue & Gray and boasts a 0.88 goals-against average. The reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year has three shutouts on the campaign and 22 saves to her credit.
  • The Blue & Gray rank first in the BIG EAST in corners per game (6.63). Martin leads the conference in minutes played in goal (720) and shutouts (3). Maja Lardner is second in the conference in shots per game (3.63), shots on goal per game (1.75) and total goals (5).
  • Lardner and Shay Montgomery pace the Hoya offense as Lardner has 10 points to her credit on five goals. Montgomery is second on the squad with six points on the season off two goals and two assists.
  • Dating back to 2021, Georgetown boasts a BIG EAST record of 29-2-9 and secured the regular season title in 2022, 2023 and 2024. GU won the BIG EAST Championship in three of the past four seasons (2021, 2022, 2023).
ABOUT CREIGHTON
  • Creighton (3-4-1) is coming off a 4-0 victory over South Dakota on Sunday. Four different Bluejays found the back of the net against South Dakota including Ariana Mondiri who tallied her third goal of the season.
  • Mondiri paces the Creighton offense with eight points to her credit on the campaign. Mondiri has recorded three goals and two assists while taking 21 shots.
  • Alyssa Zalac has logged 713 minutes between the pipes for Creighton and boasts a 1.77 goals-against average. Zalac has 23 saves to her credit.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • This will be the 15th meeting between the two sides dating back to 2013. Georgetown holds an 11-0-3 record against the Bluejays.
  • In last year's meeting, GU secured a 1-0 victory behind a 74th minute goal from Lardner.
  • GU has won four-consecutive games against Creighton dating back to 2022.
